This is a new research programme as part of our ongoing explorations of new materials and future potentials.


Magnetic Architecture explores the possibilities of producing a facade cladding type which can change its properties such as transparency, reflectiveness, colour and even its shape thanks to a computer controlled electro- magnetic current.

The system consists of a triple glazed unit. One of its micro-cavities created contains 'fluid metal' which is altered by magnetism.

All images have been taken during the first of series of prototype tests.
